CORRECTION: The Sonoma County Heart Walk is on September 23, not September 22 as previously reported.
The Heart Walk is the annual fundraiser for the American Heart Association taking place September 23 at Howarth Park in Santa Rosa. It has become a tradition for the Black Oaks Soccer over the past five years in memory of Matt Sokol, who died of a heart attack during a game in 2012.

But sadly the list of players lost from heart disease has grown with the sport in the North Bay, with many players competing well into their 40s and 50s. Last year we included Danny Brebiescas of Local Boys in our tribute. This year we would also like to walk in memory of Martin Linley, who played for Black Oaks and Thistle FC, as well as Edrick Zanga from Safari FC, teams competing in the North Bay Masters Soccer League.

“Know your numbers” means taking the time to get yourself checked out; get a physical, know your blood pressure and cholesterol, and do what you can for yourselves and your friends to prevent another tragedy.
Please consider donating today. To date as a team we have raised almost $10,000. Please forward to your friends and teammates. Even $25 makes a difference.
Below is a video from 2013 of Black Oak Rob Knied, M.D. reminding us how we can all live longer, for ourselves and our loved ones.
