Dear Black Oaks:

The Black Oaks Youth Soccer Club is to holding its inaugural annual meeting to elect a Board of Directors and to address issues important to our membership.  The meeting will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 12:00 PM Noon at Jennings Park in Santa Rosa, California.

Jennings is the home field for our club and we will be holding a meeting for all members, which include each youth player and their family, coaches and our board of directors. During the meeting we will hold elections for the board of directors as well as give a presentation about the club, its goals and philosophy. Members will also have the opportunity to address the club and propose new initiatives.

The Santa Rosa Black Oaks Youth Soccer Club LogoAs one of the founding board members, I want to thank all our supporters and members individually: parents, players, coaches, referees, league officials and members of the public including neighbors. Reaching this point has not been easy and would not have been possible without the help of several dedicated parents who have made significant personal contributions in their child’s soccer development. In particular, I would like to recognize and express my appreciation to the founding board, which has done a great deal of work to get our club established. These are: Maria Valencia, Francisco Vallejo, Gustavo Valencia, and Hilda Gomez. I would also like to recognize Joe Marquis who has served as an advisor. These founders have been meeting once per month since 2013 to do everything from organize registrations and tryouts, to forming teams, making player cards, posting schedules, updating websites, attending league meetings, hiring referees, holding coaching courses, lining fields, meeting with city officials, mediating disputes, and the list goes on and on.

While we have made a great deal of progress, there always seem to be more opportunities as well as more obstacles to overcome. This is why I am inviting all our members as well as the public to meet in helping take our club to a new level.  We will meet for about an hour and will organize activities to occupy the younger kids so we can have a productive, focused meeting. Former players and members of our adult Black Oaks teams who have supported us for years are also invited.

Please come, show your support and bring your ideas.  Soccer is growing rapidly in America and together we have a chance to build a new soccer club in Santa Rosa that embodies our love and passion for soccer while creating more opportunities for the youth of our community to play the beautiful game.
